May is Celiac Disease Awareness Month

May is Celiac Disease Awareness Month. I wish I had planned better this year because I like to do something that will bring a lot of awareness each year.

For now, I'll go with the things I won't do:

1. I will not skip talking about Celiac Disease simply to avoid the possibility of annoying my friends.

2. I will not tell people they have to go gluten-free during Celiac Disease Awareness Month. Although this is a great way to spread awareness about celiac disease and the gluten-free diet, I envision droves of people going out to eat and demanding the avoidance of cross contamination, and then ordering cake filled with gluten because they are so proud of themselves for making it through dinner. I'm all for people trying it, but I personally prefer they do it "correctly" so as not to cause those of us requiring a gluten-free diets lives that much harder.

3. I will not kill myself attempting to do something every single day, although I will do everything I can to raise as much awareness as possible.

4. I will not focus on the negatives of celiac disease. I will show everyone why I'm ALIVE now ;)

What will you be doing for Celiac Disease Awareness Month?
